FFSL President unveils new logo and announces financial grants for League One

In a significant move for Sri Lankan football, the President of the Football Federation of Sri Lanka (FFSL) officially launched the new logo for League One during a special ceremony. The President also announced a range of financial grants and benefits aimed at supporting the participating teams in the upcoming tournament, set to begin on February 8, 2025.

Financial grants breakdown:

– Group stage:
Each of the 16 teams will receive Rs. 200,000 to cover operational costs during this phase.

– Super eight stage:
The 8 teams progressing to this stage will each receive an additional Rs. 200,000.

– Knockout stage:
The 4 teams advancing to the knockout rounds will receive Rs. 100,000 each.

– Champions’ prize:
The winning team will take home Rs. 1 million, making it one of the largest prizes at this level of competition in Sri Lanka.

– Runners-up:
The second-place team will be awarded Rs. 500,000.

Additional support for teams:

To ensure the tournament is conducted to the highest standards, the FFSL has introduced several benefits for the participating teams:

– Each team will be provided with 2 sets of jerseys and 10 FIFA-standard balls.
– Refereeing expenses will be fully covered by the FFSL.
– All match ticket revenue will go directly to the respective clubs.

The President highlighted the importance of these measures, stating, “League One provides a platform for clubs and players to showcase their talent and grow. These grants and benefits are a reflection of our commitment to developing football in Sri Lanka.”

With the tournament set to kick off on February 8, 2025, League One promises an exciting season filled with competition and opportunities for Sri Lankan clubs to shine.
