FIFA announced that the Philippines will be the host of the first-ever Futsal Women’s World Cup to be held in 2025.
The Fifa Council confirmed the country’s hosting during the federation’s 74th Congress held in Bangkok, Thailand.
Specific details about the Philippines’ hosting have not been revealed by Fifa. The Philippine Football Federation hasn’t released a statement on the development as of posting time.
The Fifa Futsal Women’s World Cup was initially founded by the Council in 2023 with 16 teams participating including the host country.
The Asian Football Federation has been allocated three slots, CAF (Africa) two, Concacaf (North America, South America, Caribbean) two, Conmebol (South America) two, OFC (Oceania) one, and UEFA (Europe) four in the inaugural tournament.
The Philippines is currently ranked No. 61 in the Futsal Women’s Rankings. Last year, the futsal team competed in a tri-nation invitational held at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium with the Philippines reaching the final after a 1-0 win over New Zealand.
